Trash has advantages over other feedstocks, analyst says

Renewable fuels that use trash as feedstock will have an advantage over other biofuel technologies going forward, according to Andrew Soare, an analyst at Lux Research. Trash is cheaper to acquire than other feedstocks and skirts the food-versus-fuel debate surrounding grain-based biofuels. "Biofuel companies need to cut costs drastically to compete with a massively scaled commodity like oil, and reducing the biggest chunk of that cost profile, feedstock, will drive these companies towards petroleum parity," Soare said.
