FuturaGene CEO: Biotech eucalyptus trees can replace fossil fuels

FuturaGene has developed biotech eucalyptus trees that grow 40% faster than normal eucalyptus, making it possible for them to be used for energy generation. "Potentially, we believe this [development] can displace the whole fossil fuel industry. The technology can be adapted to any trees. We can have a whole new supply of fuel," CEO Stanley Hirsch said. Hirsch said the company is working to obtain regulatory approval to commercially grow the trees in Brazil.
