PCB contamination threatens deal for wetlands in Long Beach, Calif.

Plans to restore the wetlands near the San Gabriel River in Long Beach, Calif., could be suspended after soil testing by the Environmental Protection Agency revealed high levels of polychlorinated biphenyls in the marsh. Tests show that the levels of the cancer-causing chemical in the wetlands are thousands of times the recommended levels.
