Analysts have mixed feelings about chip market's future

Chipmakers are optimistic that the market is beginning to turn around, industry watchers say, and STMicroelectronics predicts things will be back to normal by the second quarter of next year. Yet there remains some hesitancy about a full rebound scenario, as experts point to wider economic difficulties in the U.S. and Europe. Meanwhile, iSuppli has downgraded its forecast for this year for the global semiconductor market, projecting 1.2% growth instead of its earlier estimate of 2.9%.
