AWEA cites PTC as key to wind industry's gains

Data from the American Wind Energy Association show that more than 1,200 megawatts of wind power capacity were installed in the third quarter of 2011, and more than 8,400 MW are under construction, according to columnist Meg Cichon. AWEA credits the wind industry's gains to the federal Production Tax Credit, which has generated more than $20 billion annually in private investments, Cichon writes. "This is what a successful business looks like with stable tax policy," said Denise Bode, CEO of AWEA.
