HUD secretary is first Cabinet official to endorse marriage equality

Shaun Donovan, Housing and Urban Development secretary for President Barack Obama, has become the first sitting Cabinet official to declare support for marriage rights for same-sex couples. Speaking at an event benefiting the National Center for Transgender Equality, Donovan told Metro Weekly he “absolutely” supports the right of gays and lesbians to marry.
