Verizon turns on LTE in 14 more cities

Verizon Wireless will bring its Long-Term Evolution service to an additional 14 markets today and will expand service in four existing service cities. That will bring the carrier's LTE reach to 179 markets and more than 186 million people, the company said. Meanwhile, T-Mobile USA has extended its HSPA+42 service to 11 more cities, giving the carrier a total of 163 HSPA+42 markets. The aggressive LTE efforts from Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile have proved a boon for equipment makers and other vendors.
