China to get U.S. assistance in monitoring greenhouse-gas emissions

China will collaborate with the U.S. to develop greenhouse-gas inventories, the Environmental Protection Agency announced. Both countries have collaborated to track other emissions from industrial sources, including sulfur dioxide. The agreement represents heightened efforts to persuade China to report and measure its carbon emissions "in a way that's internationally acceptable," said Julian Wong, a senior policy expert at the Center for American Progress.
