NAB chief defends spectrum turf

Although NAB is "open to ideas" on how additional spectrum can be gained for wireless broadband, broadcasters must retain sufficient spectrum to ensure their continuing transmission of HDTV and mobile DTV, and will not consider a return to standard definition, NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith said. "That's a non-starter," Smith said Tuesday, in a speech at the Media Institute in Washington, D.C.
