Insurers can help promote collision-avoidance features, experts say

Carriers can take steps such as offering lower premiums for vehicles with collision-avoidance systems and lobbying for federal laws to promote such technology, Celent's Donald Light says. The insurance industry is poised to be "more proactive" regarding accident avoidance, Accenture's Michael Costonis says. "Proactive loss control is going to become more of a feature of claims than purely aspirational. ... Loss-control behavior will become more of the norm than trying to out-execute the problem," Costonis says.
