Upswing in personal-lines rates to continue after Sandy, experts say

Hurricane Sandy and its remnants will not impede the rising trend in personal insurance rates, experts said. "Sandy will add to that pressure," Insurance Information Institute President Robert Hartwig says. "... The industry will look at the trends and costs and then seek to price accordingly. In the recent past, insurers have been successful in getting regulatory approval for higher rates."
