AMA votes to align CME standards with industry

The American Medical Association’s (AMA’s) House of Delegates recently voted to approve revised guidance on continuing medical education that would make the organization’s standards consistent with many industry standards, including those from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. "The AMA did the right thing here by encouraging physicians to participate in continuing medical education programs that meet existing ACCME and PhRMA guidelines," said Coalition for Healthcare Communication Executive Director John Kamp.
