FCC wants cablers to justify keeping pricing data under wraps

Cable firms are being asked by the Federal Communications Commission Media Bureau to justify keeping data on pricing confidential, following a Freedom of Information Act request for the information collected from 1998 to 2012. The material is being sought by Ali Yurukoglu, an assistant professor of economics at Stanford who is studying "the effects of bundling and vertical mergers" on the cable and satellite TV business.
