N.C. county manager is called up for Army Reserve duty

Polk County, N.C., Manager Ryan Whitson has been chosen to become the command sergeant major of the 1st Training Brigade of the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne), a post that will keep him away one to three years. "It is my full intention to return to Polk County soon after I finish my mobilization in accordance with applicable federal law to resume the position and duties of county manager of Polk County," said Whitson, who has been in the Army Reserve for about 27 years.
