Private, government control towers are equally safe

A new government audit has determined that privately operated air traffic control towers, known as contract towers, are as safe as those operated by the government. According to the Department of Transportation's Office of Inspector General, the cost per year of operative private towers compared with similarly busy public towers is significantly less.
