Survey shows companies lean on marketing over IT for innovation

Only 17% of executives say the IT department is helping them innovate, according to an Oracle-sponsored survey for The Economist. Nearly half (47%) cited marketing. "Survey results confirm that the IT department is underutilized and could be more engaged in educating business leaders about new technology trends," per the summary.
