Researchers announce turbine-efficiency innovations

Researchers from Syracuse University and the University of Minnesota have announced the discovery of new ways to boost the efficiency of wind turbines. The Syracuse team developed a system allowing for real-time monitoring of wind-flow patterns to reduce noise and vibration, while the Minnesota researchers found they could boost a turbine's efficiency by 3% by engraving its blades with tiny triangular grooves.
