Why college-savings plans are worth a look from investors

Morningstar reports that college-savings plans have cut fees this year, increasing their attractiveness to investors. The plans have been moving toward less expensive index options, and they often waive sales loads for investors with multiple accounts. Funds run by Nebraska's College Savings Plan, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price and Vanguard all slashed their fees in 2010.
