FDA approves supplemental test for Chagas disease in blood

The FDA has approved Abbott Laboratories' ESA Chagas assay, which can identify antibodies to Trypanosoma cruzi, the parasite that causes Chagas disease, in human serum and plasma samples. The FDA said the test is the first licensed as a supplemental test for the disease.
