Seiko offers chips to protect lithium-ion batteries

Seiko Instruments USA has introduced three ICs that defend lithium-ion batteries from overcharge, over-discharge and over-current. Pricing for the chips ranges from 33 cents to $1.64 per device, in purchased quantities of 10,000.
