HIT experts praise selection of Daschle for HHS secretary

Health care experts say President-elect Barack Obama's choice of former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle as HHS secretary is a good one because the veteran lawmaker supports health care IT and knows how to get things done on Capitol Hill. Daschle understands the need to reduce costs and enhance care quality to boost the value of health care in the U.S., said John Halamka, CIO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School.
