Control of the Internet is at stake in treaty negotiations

The International Telecommunication Union, a U.N. agency, will bring together its 193 member countries next month to negotiate regulations that include how the Internet is organized and controlled. The European Parliament has taken a stance against having the ITU take over control of the Internet, a proposal that is also opposed by the U.S. government.
