Drug industry seeks to block Medicare fixes

Democrats in control of Congress hope to give Medicare the authority to negotiate the price of medicines with drugmakers, but are facing problems in changing the law and may need to hold hearings and determine just how to provide the authority before they can proceed. Drugmakers are looking to the Senate and launching campaigns to protect them against such a move, saying price negotiations will lead to price controls and restrictions on access to drugs.
