Wal-Mart was looking ahead as it turned 50 this year, focusing on mobile, social and e-commerce initiatives aimed at positioning the retailer to serve a fast-changing customer base. "We've hired hundreds of incredibly talented people, in Silicon Valley and around the world. We are playing to win," says CEO Mike Duke.
