Class teaches first aid for pets

A two-and-a-half-hour class at the South County Recreation Center in Harwood, Md., teaches first aid for cats and dogs, including treatments for broken bones, heart failure and choking. "It's not long-term care in a situation -- just enough so that you can get to the vet," said instructor Laurie K. Scible. "And keep in mind that they don't have 911 to call for pets. We have to be the 911."
