Study finds link between ADHD drugs, less criminal behavior

A Swedish study found fewer criminal convictions among attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder patients who received medication. Researchers said the rate of criminal convictions was 32% lower for men and 41% lower for women when they were taking ADHD drugs, compared with when they were not medicated. "Potential beneficial effects would have to be carefully weighed against potential adverse effects of medication, including overprescription and side effects," the investigators wrote.
