Wash. city installs first recycling bins

Recycling bins for bottles and other recyclable items were installed last week in six spots in downtown Olympia, Wash. The bins are the first of their kind to be installed in the city and came at the request of businesses and visitors, Spencer Orman, a senior program specialist with the city’s Waste Resources department, said. "It’s as much to be able to give the public the opportunity to recycle and divert those materials … as it is to be emphasize our overall strategy of waste reduction, waste diversion," he said.
