Dental tourism booms in Costa Rica

Some North Americans are heading to Costa Rica for dental care, where the combined cost of airfare, lodging, meals and dental services can be lower than dental services alone in the U.S. and Canada. About 15,000 people traveled to Costa Rica last year for dental care, according to the country's council for international medical promotion. Many dental tourists are uninsured, and some U.S.-based insurers are expanding coverage to include care abroad.
