School districts develop ongoing teacher-led PD

While there is a great deal of focus on professional development for new teachers, rigorous programs for educators with five or six years of experience are less abundant. However, with the help of ASCD, some districts are establishing teacher-led programs to make professional development a more continuous experience. ASCD Professional Development Director Ann Cunningham-Morris says the key is to "focus on building local capacity and expertise" among groups of teachers who can help other teachers grow.
