Congressional blocks impede some NextGen benefits

Some of the benefits of the Next Generation Air Transportation System include consolidation and modernization of radar facilities, but a Bloomberg study has found that efforts toward that end have been blocked consistently by lawmakers in Congress. “You tell a congressman that you’re pulling a center out of his or her district, you’re going to have a gigantic scream,” said former Federal Aviation Administration associate administrator George Donohue.
