The Senate Judiciary Committee has approved a bill that would require a search warrant before law-enforcement agencies could look at an individual's stored e-mails. The bill is not likely to be taken up by the lame-duck Congress and will probably be subject to negotiation with House Republican leaders in the next session, this article notes.
