Boeing conducts first test of airborne laser

Boeing Co. says it has successfully fired its anti-missile laser in a ground test, using a simulated ballistic missile as a target. The high-energy laser, built by Northrop Grumman Space Technology, is being integrated into a Boeing 747-400F aircraft. The first shootdown demonstration of the Airborne Laser is scheduled for next year.
