EU seeks standardized packaging for cigarettes

The European Union is considering rules that would eliminate distinctive branding and packaging on cigarette boxes, in favor of standardized fonts and designs. Manufacturers and advertising groups are cautioning the EU that any move to standardize packaging risks running afoul of established trademark registration and protection rules.
