App developers, consumer groups suggest transparency steps

A coalition that includes the Applications Developers Alliance, Consumer Action, the World Privacy Forum and the American Civil Liberties Union was expected to present a mockup of better privacy policy notifications to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration this past Friday. The groups identified 12 areas of concern to consumers, suggesting industry adoption of more transparent information-gathering practices will benefit application adoption in the long run. "We want them to be comfortable with using apps," Alliance President Jon Potter says.
