U.K. mulls R&D tax credits for midsize biotechs

The U.K.'s chancellor of the exchequer says he intends to review a tax credit given to medium-sized biotech and drug companies for research and development with an eye to increasing them as a way to encourage the industry. Gordon Brown also said he would end tax barriers that block spin-off companies created by universities. The drug industry applauded the promised move.
