AGA launches lobbying effort to support online poker legislation

The American Gaming Association has kicked off a lobbying initiative to persuade Congress to pass online poker legislation championed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Minority Whip Jon Kyl, R-Ariz. "Without swift congressional action, the U.S. will soon see the largest expansion of legal gambling in its history," said Frank Fahrenkopf, AGA's president and CEO. Fahrenkopf said the absence of federal regulations "creates a world of unnecessary risk and problems for law enforcement and consumers."
