Tablet sales remain static despite Windows 8 debut

Microsoft's Windows 8 has had little effect on device sales, with the software giant's Surface tablet accounting for less than 1% the operating system's market penetration, according to a report from NPD Group. According to the firm's Weekly Tracking Service, sales of all Windows devices are down 21% year-over-year since the Oct. 26 launch of Windows 8, although average selling prices for Windows devices continue to increase.
