PG&E seeks regulatory approval for 6 smart-grid pilots

Pacific Gas and Electric has filed an application with the California Public Utilities Commission to launch six pilot projects on initiatives including short-term demand forecasting, Volt/VAR optimization, standards testing and customer outreach. The proposed pilots represent a portion of the 21 initiatives outlined in the utility's Smart Grid Deployment Plan. PG&E hopes to have the rest under way within a decade.
