Half of retailers turn to mobile for holidays; many offering flash sales

Mobile is part of 50% of retailers' holiday sales strategies this year, and 30% say they're giving priority to flash sales, according to a BDO USA survey. "Flash sales and daily deal promotions are extremely effective in mobile because they are impulse shopping decisions that are made on the fly with the click of a button -- which is the essence of mobile shopping," said Stephen Wyss, partner in the retail and consumer products practice at BDO USA. Among the chief marketing officers responding, other popular mobile tactics included text messaging and coupons.
