Study finds insulin, beta-cell benefits in LAGB, RYGB surgeries

Insulin-resistant patients who had laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding or Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgeries attained significant improvements in body weight, insulin sensitivity and beta-cell function, according to researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The findings were published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation.
