Topical simvastatin encourages wound healing in mouse study

Topical application of the cholesterol-lowering drug simvastatin in a petroleum jelly encouraged wound healing in diabetic mice faster than petroleum jelly alone, researchers report in the American Journal of Pathology. The drug appeared to encourage growth of new blood vessels and new lymphatic vessels, the researchers said.
