Zero-energy building is first commercial project of its kind in U.S.

Ferreira Construction is being praised for its new headquarters in Branchbug, N.J., which represents the first U.S. net zero electric, or "zero energy" commercial building. The 42,000-square-foot "smart" building generates more electricity and renewable energy than it consumes and uses a photovoltaic solar energy system that drapes the entire roof with solar panels.
