House holds hearing to review high-speed rail plans

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee plans to discuss high-speed rail plans today with Federal Railroad Administration officials. Although high-speed intercity passenger rail funding did not receive enough House votes for funding in 2012, "we are being given the unique opportunity to refocus and reform the high-speed rail program on the rail lines that will produce the most benefit for the least amount of cost," said Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Pa. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is expected to testify.
