Mercer: Pension funding shows slight improvement

November was the second consecutive month that corporate pension plans showed improvement in funding levels, which remain below this year's peak, in April, a Mercer analysis found. The average funding level of S&P 1500 companies' plans stood at 78% at the end of last month, up from 75% a month earlier. April's funding ratio was 88%. Interest rate improvement contributed to November's gain, Mercer said.
