Qualcomm: Quad-core chips will support Windows 8 tablets

Qualcomm will support tablets running Microsoft's upcoming Windows 8 software with its quad-core Snapdragon S4 chips -- which run on ARM-designed systems -- probably in the latter half of 2012, the company said. A published report suggests the ARM-based Windows 8 tablets will be based entirely on Microsoft's Metro user interface. Also, Microsoft said it would delay introduction of Windows Phone 7 devices in China from late 2011 to the first half of next year.
