Google unveils new tools for online and real-world shoppers

Google has unveiled a suite of tools for online shoppers, including a list of top toys that lets shoppers inspect potential purchases in 3D, along with listings and even floor plans of nearby stores and malls. The tools will improve consumers' overall shopping experience, but won't necessarily drive Web traffic to retailers or create direct revenue streams, says Google Shopping chief Sameer Samat. "If we're helping consumers be more effective in shopping and more activities, they will find Google more relevant and valuable as a company. That's a good thing for Google, long term," he explains.
