U.K. advances telehealth plan for 3M chronic-disease sufferers

Britain's Department of Health is moving forward with a plan to bring remote health care solutions to 3 million households by 2016 in an effort to reduce costs and boost care levels for patients with chronic illnesses. Studies by the agency estimate that the introduction of telehealth solutions would reduce emergency room visits 20% while significantly lowering the risk of death among patients suffering from conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.
