Pearson pilots online teacher-certification program

Publishing company Pearson is testing a program that would allow teachers to earn certification online, and company executives say the National Evaluation Series will ensure that teachers are prepared for 21st-century classrooms. William Gorth, president of Pearson's Evaluations Systems group, said NES would be used to measure whether an educator meets state teaching standards as well as their classroom-management abilities.
