Surety will oversee completion of Texas highway project if contractor is deemed unable

A contractor working on a highway-widening project in Texas has filed for bankruptcy. If the contractor can't finish the project, the bonding company will find another contractor to perform the remaining $6 million worth of work on the $17 million project. Six to eight weeks would be necessary if the surety must get another contractor in place, but work still is expected to be finished in the spring.
