BBA says proposal to tax bankers' bonuses could hurt sector:

The British Bankers' Association said a proposal by the UK government to tax bankers' bonuses could damage the financial sector. "Windfall taxes are usually three things -- they are populist, they are political and they are also penal," said Angela Knight, CEO of the BBA. Bankers said the EU's anti-discrimination rules will make it difficult to impose such a tax.
